Samsung Galaxy A56 to Receive Android 16-Based One UI 8 Update Earlier Than Expected
Samsung is moving quickly with the development of its next major software upgrade—One UI 8, based on Android 16—and it’s not just flagship devices that will benefit from the early release. The Galaxy A56, a mid-range smartphone, has already shown signs of receiving the update ahead of schedule, as an early One UI 8 firmware has been spotted on Samsung’s servers.
The Galaxy A56 is eligible for up to six major Android upgrades, and One UI 8 will be the first in that series. This positions the A56 as a strong long-term choice for users looking for extended software support. According to Google, the stable Android 16 update is expected to roll out in the United States during the summer months, between June and August. However, it’s not yet confirmed whether this schedule will apply equally to both flagship and mid-range devices.
That said, it’s becoming increasingly clear that most eligible Samsung smartphones and tablets will receive the One UI 8 update before the end of 2025. This is a welcome shift from the delays that plagued the One UI 7 release cycle, which saw extended wait times for many devices.
Samsung appears committed to streamlining its software update process. By collaborating closely with Google, the company aims to accelerate the development and deployment of its One UI interface on top of each new Android version. This strategic alignment could significantly reduce rollout times in the future, benefiting users across all device tiers.
As for the possibility of a beta version of One UI 8 for the Galaxy A56, it’s unlikely. Currently, the beta program is only available for the Galaxy S25 series. To stick to its ambitious timeline, Samsung may need to limit the beta testing phase to flagships to avoid potential delays.
Stay tuned for more updates as Samsung progresses with the One UI 8 rollout for the Galaxy A56 and other mid-range devices. We’ll keep you informed on all developments.
